My name is Troy Gillespie.  I teach Physics and I also coach Girl’s Basketball at Westside.  I grew up in Port Aransas, TX where there isn’t anything to do but go to the beach or play basketball.  I played all five sports my high school had to offer and made it to regionals in all five my senior year.  I played football for three years for Abilene Christian University where I graduated in 2001 with a degree in composite science.  After football, I was a player and then a player/coach, for Abilene Christian’s soccer team.  After college I played one year of semi-professional football before I started working here at Westside.  I have coached girl’s basketball for seven years. I am the head Girl’s Basketball coach and I couldn’t be any happier.  In the past three years my team has had a record of 90-20, we have won 2 district championships, and been in the regional finals twice.  It is rare that you find yourself doing something that you truly love and get paid for it, but I guess I am just lucky!  Today I am trying to better my team, my students, and myself for a future full of intangibles.
